Frigotherapy: purposes, contraindications, and applications


Local frigotherapy includes ice packs, ice capsules, ice caps, ice troughs, cold compresses, chemical refrigerations, ice blankets, and semiconductor cooling caps. Traditional ice packs, ice capsules, ice caps, ice troughs are rare in clinical practices, and the most used are chemical ice packs, ice caps, ice blanket, and semiconductor cooling caps. Systemic frigotherapy includes warm sponge bath and alcohol sponge bath.

Purposes

Reduce local congestion or bleeding: clinical use for early hemostasis of local soft tissue injury or tonsil surgery, nasal bleeding, and so on.
Reduce pain: application to the early pain caused by acute injury, toothache, scalding pain, and so on.
Control inflammation spread: indicated in early inflammation, such as early inflammation in nasal soft tissue.
Lower body temperature: hypothermy for patients with hyperpyrexia, prevention and treatment of brain edema for patients with heat stroke, brain trauma, cerebral hypoxia.

Contraindications

  • Blood circulation disorders: extensive tissue damage, poor blood circulation in local tissue, systemic microcirculation disorder, shock, peripheral vascular disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes, neuropathy, edema
  • Chronic inflammation or deep purulent lesions
  • Tissue injury, wound rupture, or open wound
  • Cold hypersensitivity 
  • Other cases, such as coma, paresthesia, older adults, infants, young children, joint pain, heart disease, breastfeeding women
  • Occiput posterior, auricle, scrotum, precardium, abdomen, pelma


Applications

Ice bag application: placement on the forehead, head, side neck, armpit, groin, and other large vascular areas, anterior jaw after tonsil surgery, no more than 30 minutes.

Warm water bath, alcohol sponge bath: placement of ice bag on the head to prevent headache caused by head congestion; placement of hot water bag on foot to promote peripheral blood vessels to expand. Bath time is no more than 20 minutes.

Fried rice and pork balls

Ingredients

300 grams cooked rice

100 grams carrot, peeled and chopped

100 grams pork, minced

1 piece ginger, minced

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 egg, beaten

1/5 cup starch

1 cup vegetable oil

Methods

1. Pour the carrot, pork, ginger, soy sauce, and ground black pepper in a bowl, mix until even, set aside for 10 minutes

2. Pour the steamed rice in the bowl, mix until even, season with salt

3. Pour starch in the bowl, pour beaten egg in the bowl, mix until even, roll the mixture into some balls

4. Heat a pot over medium heat, pour vegetable oil in the pot, drop the balls in the pot, fry until golden


5. Take out, drain, server




Scrambled egg with vermicelli


Ingredients

250 grams vermicelli

2 eggs

1/4 cup cooking oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sliced green onion

1 tablespoon chopped red chili

Methods

1. Soak the vermicelli in hot water, until soft, take out, rinse, drain

2. Crack the eggs in a bowl, beat until smooth, heat a pot over medium heat, pour some cooking oil in the pot, pour the beaten egg in the pot, spread, chop with the spatula or spoon, take out, set aside

3. Pour the remaining cooking oil in the pot, drop the vermicelli in the pot, stir until tender, season with salt

4. Drop the chopped red chili and sliced green onion in the pot, stir until even, pour the egg in the pot, stir until even


5. Serve

Surgical treatments of presbyopia


Surgical treatments of presbyopia include the following:



Accommodative intraocular lensimplantation: be suitable for older adults with cataracts.

Non- accommodative intraocular lens implantation: implantation of intraocular lens selection reserved some degrees of myopia, patients see far distances wearing myopia correction lens, and see near distances without needing to wear glasses, so as to solve the presbyopia.

Scleral expansion band surgery: it does not have wide discussion, and the effect is not ideal, so there is still controversy.

LASIK surgery (Laser in situ keratomileusis): change the curvature of cornea by LASIK surgery, correcting the farsightedness of one eye (dominant eye) to see distant visions, correcting the nearsightedness of the other eye to see near visions. Most people expressed satisfaction after surgery.


Conductive keratoplasty (CK surgery): apply radio frequency current in the surrounding cornea to shrink corneal collagen tissue, changing the central corneal curvature (convex), so as to correct presbyopia. This non-laser conductive keratoplasty is safe and effective in treatments of mild to moderate hyperopia, presbyopia, almost without postoperative complications. The treatment range is + 0.75 to +3.00 degrees.

Sauteed pasta



Ingredients

300 g pasta

100 g lamb

30 g cooking oil

8 g salt

1 tomato

2 pieces green vegetable

5 g ground black pepper

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon chicken powder

1 garlic clove

1/2 teaspoon vinegar

3 dried chilies, soaked in hot water for 1 minute, chopped

Methods

1. Prepare all ingredients

2. Slice the green vegetable, chop the tomato, chop the garlic, slice the lamb

3. Pour some water in a stew pot, heat the pot over high heat, bring to a boil, drop the pasta in the pot, boil until tender, take out, drop in cold water, take out, drain, mix with little cooking oil, set aside

4. Heat another pot over medium heat, pour some cooking oil in the pot, drop the lamb in the pot, stir until even, pour the ground black pepper and chili in the pot, stir until even, drop the tomato and  green vegetable in the pot

5. Stir until even, pour the garlic, soy sauce, and chicken powder in the pot, stir until even

6. Season with salt

7. Drop the pasta in the pot, stir until even

8. pour the vinegar in the pot, stir until even

Braised beef

Ingredients

500 g beef, chopped

2 red chilies, sliced

2 green chilies, sliced

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons cooking oil

1 piece ginger, sliced

1 onion, chopped

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 star anise

10 black peppers

1 cinnamon stick


Method

1. drop the beef in a pot, pour some cold water in the pot, heat the pot over high heat, bring to a boil, take out the beef, drain, turn off the heat

2. Rinse the pot, heat the pot over medium heat, pour the cooking oil in the pot, drop the beef in the pot, stir until fragrant, pour soy sauce in the pot, stir until even

3. Drop the ginger, star anise, black peppers, and cinnamon in the pot, stir until fragrant, pour some warm water and red rice in the pot, bring to a boil, cover the pot with a lid, turn down the heat, stew for 40 minutes

4. Season with salt, drop the red chilies, green chilies, and onion in the pot, stir until even, turn up the heat, until the soup thickened





5. Serve

Steamed jujube and yam


Ingredients

1 piece yam, peeled

5 dried jujubes

1 tablespoon white sugar

Method

1. Remove the seeds of the jujubes, chop the jujubes

2. Grate the yam

3. Drop the yam and the jujubes in a steam bowl, mix until even

4. Put the steam bowl in a steam pot, steam for 45 minutes, until tender and soft

5. Take out the steam bowl, sprinkle the bowl with some white sugar

6. Serve
