Gua sha tools must be disinfected before use. Generally speaking, each gua sha lasts 3 to 5 minutes, do not be more than 20 minutes. Some people can not appear redness or so called sha in the course of gua sha, it is normal, not everybody must have redness after gua sha. What is most important is that patient feels comfortable and relaxed.
After 3 to 5 days of first gua sha, or the redness is disappeared, you can get second gua sha. You may feel pain and itchy for about 2 days after gua sha, it is the normal situation.
Detailed steps to operate
1, let the patient get comfortable position, fully expose parts to be treated, wash and clean the parts with warm water.
2, scrape the parts to get treated with smooth edged gua sha tools dipped in olive oil, sesame oil, rapeseed oil, peanut oil, soybean oil or water.
3, the order is usually from top to bottom, from center to sides, or from inner to outer, do not be back and forth at the same time. Scrape about 20 strokes for a part, and then the redness will appear on the skin.
4, scrape 4 to 8 red strokes for each part, the strokes can be straight or round accord the different parts.
6, if scraped or massaged the acupuncture points, the treatment effects are better.
